The MatCon team has completed work on a cap over the Tank Farms at Hanford DOE site.

Work involved putting an asphalt cap larger than a football field over a radioactively contaminated area of central Hanford.

​

It's the second cap to be placed over a portion of the Hanford nuclear reservation, where underground tanks holding millions of gallons of radioactive and hazardous chemical waste have previously leaked into the soil.

​Part of MatCon quality plans includes evaluation of base materials with sophisticated deflection testing equipment.

​

The deflection testing allows the strength of the foundation be assessed over a wide area.
